Walking Your Dog and Where to Start

Top 3 Benefits for your pup and some local places to try

We all know that when it comes to walking your dog, it can be seen as a chore or duty. How many have ‘walking the dog’ on your child’s chore list? I know I do! But did you know that walking your dog has AMAZING benefits for them? Regular walks provide a ton of health and mental benefits for your furever friend!  Here are the top 3 benefits of walking your dog and how to get started.

How do walks benefit my dog?

Physical Health – Dogs benefit greatly from movement. Not only will regular walks contribute to their weight control, but also their joint health! Being able to burn off those extra calories consumed with their meals and yummy treats will benefit them greatly. As well as help loosen up those joints!

Mental Health – You may be thinking “But I have a yard! That provides a ton of play for my pooch.” But dogs, just like humans, get bored. Yards are great! But walks really provide that break up from the same day to day scenery.

Socialization – Do you ever stop and say hi when out and about? That small interaction can sometimes be just what you need and that’s the same for your pup! You are their everything, but friends are great to have too! Practicing these skills provide you and your dog with the confidence to be comfortable and confident when out on the trails!
