What services do you offer?

We offer the following services:  visits scheduled at your preferred times from 1-4 times per day (as early as 630am and as late as 930pm).
Our visits can be scheduled as 30, 45, or 60 minute appointments.
We offer dog walking in conjunction with pet sitting or as a stand alone service for busy households.
We offer sleepover care and live-in care.
We provide care to all species; dogs, cats, horses, goats, chickens, cows and other farm animals as well as reptiles and birds.
We can offer a customized plan for you with any services we provide so that your unique care needs are met.

How much do your services cost?

Our services start at approximately $28-$30 and vary depending on the length of visit required and any special care needed.

Are you insured and bonded?

Cathy’s Critter Care is fully insured and bonded through Business Insurers of the Carolinas.

How experienced are your pet sitters?

Our sitters are fully trained in providing the best care for your pets from basic feeding and sanitation to providing oral and topical medications, injections and subcutaneous fluids. Some of our sitters have been with us 10-20 years!    Many of our sitters are vet techs, zoo employees and other animal care experts. 

How do I communicate with my pet sitter while I'm away?

You can text your pet sitter anytime you are away though our office number.  Your pet sitter will send you updates, including pictures from every visit!

What is the backup plan in case my pet sitter can't make a scheduled visit?

Your pet sitter always has a backup sitter available at Cathy’s Critter Care to cover for them should any unforeseen emergencies arise with your sitter. We work as a team of employees, fully bonded and insured for your peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies or unexpected situations?

Our team is trained to handle various unexpected events , including medical emergencies or unforeseen changes in your pet’s behavior or environment. We will always keep you informed of any changes with your pet or your home and seek your input first in any non life threatening issue. We will follow any instructions you have provided regarding emergency contacts and veterinary care preferences.

Can you provide references from past clients?

We absolutely can! We have hundreds of happy clients from our 25+ years of working in the community.

Are there any specific requirements for a pet sitter's qualifications?

Currently there are no specific requirements, licenses or certifications required for pet sitters. At Cathy’s Critter Care we have gone the extra step to attain a Certificate in Professional Pet Sitting Services (CPPS) from Pet Sitters International.   Additionally, Cathy Vaughan mentors pet sitters from around the country on best practices and standards for superior pet sitting care. 

Do you offer additional services such as dog walking or administering medication?

Yes we provide dog walking and we can administer a variety of medications.

What if my pet has special dietary or medical needs?

We are experts at handling very special diets like RAW diets, home cooked diets, delivered frozen pet meals and special medical diets. We are happy to follow your instructions to the letter when feeding your pets a special diet for their health and comfort.

How do you ensure the safety and security of my home and pets?

The best thing about pet sitting is that your pets are in the safety and comfort of their own home. They are not exposed to other animals outside their family, this minimizing the risk of illness and injury. We always use the safest protocols on dog walks; we never allow interaction with any other dogs or people and are always aware of potential unforeseen issues/obstacles.

We keep your home locked and secure at all times. Our work is discrete and we maintain the utmost confidentiality of all of our clients.
Our sitters are all background checked regularly to add another layer of peace of mind in choosing Cathy’s Critter Care.

How do I set up my first appointment for care?

Just call or text us at 210-864-6189 or email us at [email protected] and we will get your dates for care held and a meeting with your sitter set up. It’s that easy!

What should I expect during the meeting with my pet sitter?

Your pet sitter will arrive ready to learn about the needs of your pets, meet them and you and give your pets a chance to get to know them. They will discuss all items pertaining to your pets’ care and how to maintain your home during your absence. The meeting should only take about a half hour of your time. The pet sitter will ask you questions like: how much and how often do you feed your pet? They will want to see the location of feeding areas and where the food is kept. For cats, your pet sitter will want to see all litter boxes so they can be cleaned at each visit and monitored. Additionally plans for exercise and potty protocols for dogs will be discussed – backyard time or walks. Your pet sitter will also discuss how to safely and securely enter your home, including any necessary alarm codes.

What is the process for scheduling pet sitting appointments?

Anytime you need care, you can contact us by phone, text or email and you will also have access to a simple to use client portal where you can submit your own dates.
